Do eyelash extensions hurt?

Eyelash extensions should not hurt when applied correctly.  They are applied with professional tools by isolating one lash and adhering one extension to your natural lash for classic lashes or fans for volume lashes. Most Lash Artists put on under eye gel pads to prevent discomfort and aid in application. It is important to go to a trusted Lash Artist who was certified through a reputable course as this will ensure that they are applying the correct weight and length of lashes to your natural lash.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Most eyelash extension adhesives have a bond time of anywhere from 4-8 weeks. However, they will only last as long as your natural lash does. Like all hair on the human body, your eyelashes grow in stages. It is normal to lose 1-4 natural lashes per day which is why a fill is recommended every 3-4 weeks.

Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?

Yes, you can! However, it is recommended to use an oil free mascara that is extension safe. This will make it so your mascara does not interfere with the bond of the eyelash extension adhesive or cause early separation.

Do eyelash extensions look fake?

Eyelash extensions can be applied to look any way that you desire. Most reputable lash artists will be able to give you your desired look or very similar. You can choose to have shorter natural lashes, large dramatic lashes, etc. Typically speaking, eyelash extensions don’t look fake unless that is the look that you are going for.

Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash. Certified lash artists will apply to only one natural lash, and will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the integrity of your natural lash. Eyelash extensions can be damaging if your lash artist is not using proper techniques. Lashes that are too heavy, or clusters (pre-made fans) have a larger amount of adhesive and can cause your natural lash to break. When selecting your lash artist, ask which techniques that they use and where they were certified. This will aid in maintaining healthy natural lashes and enjoying the benefits of extensions.

Can I wear eye Make-up with my eyelash extensions?

You most definitely can wear makeup with your eyelash extensions. When selecting makeup, it is beneficial to go with extension safe makeup. Extension safe makeup is oil free, usually contains sealers to prolong extension life and helps to work adjacent with your extensions for an optimal look. If you use regular makeup, it is recommended to use a daily cleanser with oil-free makeup remover that is safe for your lashes to remove residue at the end of the day.

How much do eyelash extensions cost?

The price of lash extensions is determined by the particular artist and area. This means that it will vary from state to state.  We recommend calling around and pricing out your lashes with reputable resources for the best experience.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is the process of manually implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin, into the epidermis, by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes.

Who is microblading for?

Those who want to effortlessly look their best anytime. Busy moms, business women or anyone with an active lifestyle.

Does it hurt?

The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. A numbing anesthetic is applied for numbing after the first pass and during the procedure. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure. Our clients are usually pleased to discover that it is no more painful than tweezing or threading.

How long is the healing process?

It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your procedure. This usually subsides within a few hours. The first week following your treatment, the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around the 1st or 2nd-week post procedure, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8 when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible. A touch up visit approximately 6 – 8 weeks after your first initial appointment is necessary in order to achieve that richness of color, achieve symmetry, and density in the shape.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

How many treatments are needed?

Microblading is a multiple step appointment process. YOUR BROWS WILL NOT BE COMPLETED AFTER JUST ONE SERVICE. For microblading, at least two appointments are needed initially. Each of these appointments being 6 – 8 weeks apart. At the second visit, your touch up, we will assess the color retention and make any adjustments necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry!  We can always go bolder and add more density at your next appointment.

How will I look immediately after?

Your brows will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first week or so. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. Redness and swelling are minimal. You can anticipate your brows being bolder than normal the first few days after your procedure, but no need to go into hiding!

How will Microblading brows look in the future?

During your appointment, we will analyze your skin tone to anticipate how pigment colors will heal and fade in the future. We will also mix pigments to ensure the color blends well with your natural hair and skin color. There are some cases, however, where the color may fade to different tones according to the individual’s response to the pigments (like lifestyle and iron deficiencies). Many factors affect these changes. At your follow up appointment, we will re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial color.  If needed, special formula alterations to correct the color is made at this time. To keep your brows looking their best, a refresher appointment is suggested every 12 months. Results and preferences vary with each client.

Will Microblading work well for me?

If you have extremely oily skin, the microblading technique may NOT work well for you. The constant production of oil will cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result will look more powdered instead of a crisp hair stroke appearance.

If you are a frequent smoker, your pigment will fade sooner.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments may be made via our online booking system.

Is it tattooing?

With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading, many are led to falsely believe microblading is not a tattoo process. THIS IS FALSE. Permanent cosmetics, “semi-permanent makeup”, micropigmentation, dermal implantation, microblading/microstroking, eyebrow embroidery, and long-time/long-lasting makeup, are all different names for the same procedure, cosmetic tattooing. Any time pigment is placed into the skin with any device, it is a tattoo process. This is defined by many well- informed regulators, the medical community, and dictionary sources. Denying this process is a tattoo can be problematic for those who would, for religious or other personal reasons, normally refuse to have a tattoo.

Do my existing eyebrows need to be shaved off?

Most definitely NOT! Please do not tweeze, thread, wax or modify your eyebrows in any way for as long as possible, and no sooner than two weeks. The beginning of your service includes a brief consultation, followed by shaping and finally a discussion about color. Your regular brow maintenance of tweezing, threading, waxing and/or tinting may continue once the brows have healed.

Pre Care Instructions

(PLEASE LINK ‘PRE CARE INSTRUCTIONS’ TO OUR PRE & POST CARE PAGE) are designed and MUST BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessing bleeding and sensitivity during the procedure will dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results.

* Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

* If you are a frequent smoker or “sun worshipper” the topical anesthetics used during the treatment may not last as long and also can lead to poor retention and poor lasting results.

* If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 years or older to receive Microblading at Xquisite Med Spa in York, PA.

How long does Microblading last?

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo. The pigment will fade over time and we recommend to get an Annual Touch-Up to keep them looking their best. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle.

The frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: skin type, pigment selection, lifestyle (sun exposure, smoking, acidic skincare products, etc.), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), chemical peels, etc.

Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

What factors will affect Microblading?

Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, certain food or drink, and medications act as blood-thinners and should be avoided 48 hours prior to your appointment. Please see Pre & Post care for the full list of what to avoid.

Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo, and may also change the color appearance of the pigment. A physical sunscreen should be used (once healed) to prolong your enhancement. Whenever possible, we encourage our clients to wear a hat to protect their beautiful brows (and skin too)!

The choice of pigment color: Some colors may fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde pigment may fade quicker than a dark brunette pigment.

Lifestyle: smokers, “sun worshippers”, or anyone with skin that is in a state of distress (rosacea, acne, etc.) may have less desirable results.

What should I do before my eyebrow procedure?

Please refer to our Eyebrow Care (LINK ‘EYEBROW CARE’ TO THE SPECIFIC EYEBROW CARE PAGE) page

What should I do after the procedure?

Please refer to our Eyebrow Care (LINK ‘EYEBROW CARE’ TO THE SPECIFIC EYEBROW CARE PAGE) page

What should I know about long-term care?

* The color will lighten over time. We recommend an annual touch up to keep brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure.

* If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area.

* If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area. Laser may cause pigment to turn black.

Do you tattoo men’s eyebrows?

We are happy to accommodate consultations for men interested in microblading.

If you are iron deficient or Anemic, your pigment will fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently remove the layer of dull, dead skin cells and vellus hair in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.

Does it hurt? Will it cause cuts?

Dermaplaning is effective by performing a gentle scraping motion across the skin’s surface. With hair removal such as waxing and threading, most people have the idea that all hair removal is painful, but Dermaplaning is entirely painless. There are risks of cuts on the skin, however they are small and very minor as the pressure used for Dermaplaning cannot cause a deep cut. These nicks and scrapes  heal within 24-48 hours.

How is Dermaplaning different from a peel?

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation process that does not use acids or enzymes to remove dead skin cells. All of the exfoliation is achieved during your treatment and you will not peel or visibly shed skin after your service, while Peels can result in dramatic peeling in the days following a service. Dermaplaning provides a good alternative to peels for those who desire professional grade exfoliation without the potential social downtime.

How long is the treatment?

30 minutes.

How should I care for my skin after Dermaplaning?

After a Dermaplaning treatment your skin needs time to heal and restore. Treat the skin gently, using only hands to cleanse for at least 2 days and wearing sunscreen every day.

Recommended course for optimal results?

Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.

Is the treatment safe?

This treatment is extremely safe when performed by an properly trained skincare professional. There is no more risk to the skin than when you shave your legs. There is also no downtime associated with this procedure.

Who can have Dermaplaning done?

Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with active breakout and men with heavy facial hair. If you have active acne there are other treatments available that would be more beneficial, and it is necessary to wait until breakouts are healed before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment. This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the use of chemicals.

What should I expect during my service?

Dermaplaning is a painless treatment that includes deep cleansing, professional exfoliation in the form of dermaplaning followed by restorative treatment and finished with skin care suited to your unique skin. Dermaplaning has a similar sensation to close a shave which removes vellus hair and dead skin cells simultaneously.

What should I expect after my service?

You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. While the main objective of this treatment is exfoliation, the immediate removal of peach fuzz is an added benefit which renders the skin exceptionally smooth and soft.  Skin care products are better able to penetrate the skin following a dermaplaning service which allows them to work more efficiently. Your cosmetics will also go on smoother. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may look pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

No, dermaplaning will not alter your natural hair growth. As we remove the vellus hair we are cutting it at the thickest part of the hair follicle so it may appear thicker or darker for a brief period of time. However, this perceived difference is cosmetic and most clients do not notice.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin treatment procedure that involved an electric skin-needling device. The device contains 12 very fine needles. It is used during micro-needling procedures to break down old scar tissue and push skin cell generation. Cell production leads to the creation of new layers of elastin and collagen fiber and leads to improved blood flow in the skin.

What conditions does Microneedling treat?

Some of the conditions that medical microneedling is known to improve include: mild to moderate acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, skin texture and pore size, and stretch marks.

What does the procedure involve?

It begins with cleaning and numbing the skin using a collagen-stimulating product, Vitamin C serum or a skin lightener. A small pen with 12 tiny needles is used to create tiny wounds in the skin. The speed and adjustability of the needles allows for more effective piercing and absorption of skin products. Vitamin-C serum or Hyaluronic Acid is used after the procedure to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

How do I take care of my skin after Microneedling?

Patients tolerate the procedure easily. However, side effects such as dryness, scaling, redness, or swelling may last for a few days (or longer). It is recommended that patients protect their skin from the sun after the procedure. When the procedure is used to treat acne scars, it is recommended that the patient clean his/her face with a gentle cleanser every night. This should be repeated in the morning and products such as makeup and lotions can be used regularly. Postoperative wound infections are rare because micro wounds close quickly after the procedure is completed. If necessary, emollients or antibiotics may be prescribed. Skin rejuvenation will be visible as soon as two weeks after the procedure or as much as six to eight months after. Results for burn scar treatments can take between six months to one year to show.

What effects does Microneedling have on the skin?

Medical microneedling is known to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, regenerate tissue, improve the appearance of scars, reduce the size of pores and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Is Microneedling painful?

Prior to the treatment, numbing cream can be applied to minimize pain that is felt during the procedure.

What should I avoid on my skin after the treatment?

AHAs (glycolic Acid), retinol, acidic or active ingredients should not be used for two to three days after treatment to allow for maximum healing. Sun exposure is not recommended and sunscreen is encouraged.

How does Microneedling work?

The device slides along the skin and penetrates upper layers of the skin to a depth of up to 2mm to create tiny needle wounds. This signals the body to respond by producing collagen and elastin fibers. As a result, the skin becomes fuller, thus reducing the appearance of scars, lines, and wrinkles.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Most people will notice redness and mild swelling similar to slight sunburn for 24-48 hours and there may be a slight pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. Skin will be noticeably smoother and more radiant within a week or two. Full results will take a few months to appear.

What is the down time after Microneedling?

Inflammation of the skin is very temporary and reduces greatly within a few hours. It may remain slightly pink for up to 48 hours after treatment. Using Hyaluronic Acid after the procedure can help reduce inflammation, and sunscreen can be used to protect the skin. Makeup use should be limited to mineral makeup.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

Some of the known benefits of known microneedling are that it greatly improves topical cream effectiveness and penetration and stimulates blood circulation and collagen production; the needles are non-allergenic; it is cost-effective relative to other surfacing procedures; it works on all skin types and it can treat the scalp, face, and body, including skin around the eyes, mouth, and neck.

Can Microneedling be performed on any skin color?

Yes, it is safe to use on all skin types and colors without risk of post-inflammatory hyper- pigmentation.

How many treatments do I need and how often can Microneedling procedures bedone?

Each patients skin condition determines the number of treatments that are needed. Moderate acne scars may need between three and four treatments, while thermal burns and stretch marks may need five.? Conditions such as wrinkles caused by aging, one or two refresher treatments are recommended per year.

Microneedling can be safely repeated every four to six weeks as needed. Collagen induction requires at least three treatments, while scar reduction requires between three and six. Four to six weeks should pass between one treatment and the next. Microneedling can be used on all parts of the body (neck, d?collet?, arms, legs, etc). Usually results begin to appear after the first treatment.

Am I a candidate for Microneedling?

Medical microneedling is safe on all skin types and colors because the epidermis is not damaged during treatment. The chance of change in pigmentation or post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation is minimal. Skin microneedling can be used on sensitive and fragile areas (eyes, neck, back of hands) that cannot be treated easily with other procedures. Microneedling is not suitable for patients who have used Accutane (isotretinoin) within the last three months, have open wounds, cuts or abrasions, have had radiation skin treatment within the last year, are suffering from any skin infection, condition, or herpes simplex in the area of concern, are pregnant or breast feeding, have any history of keloid or hypertrophic scars or poor wound healing

What is a HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is an invigorating treatment that can be given in as little as 30 minutes. It delivers long-term skin health and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of all skin types. It offers instant, noticeable results with no downtime or irritation. The HydraFacial treatment removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing serums. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective.

Am I a candidate for this treatment?

The HydraFacial treatment is designed for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates the HydraFacial treatment. Your physician or skincare professional may choose specific treatment serums and/or customize the treatment for your unique skin conditions and needs. Consult your physician or skincare professional for a skin evaluation and sensitivity test.

What results may be expected and how long do they last?

Many clients report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment. The smooth results and hydration may last 5 to 7 days or even longer.

Why is a HydraFacial good for my skin?

Hydration is the foundation of healthy, radiant skin. Irritation of the skin has been proven to increase signs of aging. HydraFacial is a hydrating and non-irritating treatment.

How long does the treatment take? Is there any downtown or pain involved?

Our goal is to help support you in a balanced lifestyle. That’s why HydraFacial is a fast, efficient treatment that takes as little as 30 minutes. You may put on makeup and return to your normal activities right after the treatment since there is no downtime.

How many treatments are needed to see results?

We don’t believe in quick fixes, so one treatment per month is recommended for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, oily and congested skin. Continued HydraFacial treatments are highly recommended to maintain skin health results.

What is the Fibroblast skin tightening treatment?

It is a non-invasive/non-surgical procedure with the same or comparable results as traditional surgery. Before the treatment the topical anaesthetic is applied, ensuring a painless procedure. This innovative technique cannot cause the so-called “overlifting”, as it only damages excess/loose skin which returns to its “original state” after the regeneration phase. A partial effect can be seen immediately after the treatment. You need to wait for 6–8 weeks to see the perfect results.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of the procedure depends on the size area to be treated. Smaller areas, like an eye lift, could take 1-2 hours (including numbing and additional consulting), while larger areas, like full face lift, chest or stomach, could take several hours.

Is Fibroblast skin tightening treatment right for me?

With the help of Plasma instrument it is possible to treat various skin problems (acne), achieve the “lifting effect” of the loose skin or correct or remove scars … If you suffer from any of the above mentioned and do not want to go through a traditional surgical procedure, Fibroblast is the right solution for you.

May I use makeup after the Fibroblast treatment?

Makeup is not allowed until the dots are fully healed.

What is the recovery process like?

You may experience some swelling, redness and a little soreness for 2-3 days following your procedure. The treated area will be covered in a brown crust - either made up of tiny brown dots for lifting procedures or fully covered for resurfacing treatments - that will fall off in 4-7 days. You will need to keep the area clean and dry and will be provided with both an antiseptic cleaning solution and a collagen cream.   Results are immediate, however once swelling subsides and the dots have fallen off the treated area will continue to improve for 2-4 months as new collagen is produced! Occasionally additional treatments will be recommended or desired for optimal results.

How long will the effect of the Fibroblast treatment last?

The results of the Fibroblast treatment are permanent and may be visible for years. But we should acknowledge that the aging process is continuous and thus the skin ages every day after the procedure and this cannot be stopped. The results of this method are permanent, but when we talk about mimic facial lines (worry lines) these may recur quickly because muscles are stronger than the skin and consequently the lines recur.

Average results last from 2-4 years

How does it work?

The Fibroblast treatment uses the fourth state of matter – plasma. Tissues treated “sublimate” and we avoid spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas. The principle is to ionize gases in the air to create a small electrical arch, similar to a tiny lightning bolt, with which dermal and epidermal areas, which are affected by aesthetic problems, may be treated without spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas.

When the electrical arch – plasma – touches the skin surface, the heat widens the acne and is transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. The result is contraction and tightening of the skin cells. Consequently, the excess skin is reduced and the result is comparable to lifting or wrinkle reduction.

Is the procedure painful?

The answer to this depends on several factors, however, most clients describe it as feeling moderately painful. We will use a numbing agent prior to beginning your procedure. While most clients find it moderately painful but tolerable, on occasion those with lower pain tolerance may experience excessive discomfort - and then there are those lucky ones who don’t feel much of anything!  Clients on their menstrual cycle may experience increased discomfort, so it is advised to plan accordingly.

Please refer to our Fibroblast Care (LINK TO THE SPECIFIC FIBROBLAST CARE PAGE) page for more information.

What is the process like?

The whole process begins with your consultation.  During this time we will discuss your goals and customize a specific plan for you.  Once your appointment begins you'll begin numbing while you fill out remaining paperwork and revisit your goals for the procedure.

The procedure itself uses a tool that creates a plasma arc (like a tiny lightning bolt!) that travels from the machine to your skin’s surface (think a large pen that never actually touches your skin). The area of the skin that the arc touches is sublimated (converted directly to vapor), immediately reducing surface area of the skin (creating the tightening effect) and stimulating new collagen production. Generally you will be left with a series of tiny dots that will fall of in 4-7 days. This procedure can be used to lift and tighten any area of the body, remove dark spots, skin tags and moles, as well as resurface the skin to treat scars, stretch marks and other blemishes. Results are immediate, however there is typically some swelling within the first couple of days. Once swelling subsides and the dots have fallen off the treated area will continue to improve for 2-4 months as new collagen is produced!

Upon completion you'll be advised of your at-home aftercare procedures and will be given the appropriate materials to follow these guidelines. If additional treatments are recommended or desired they may be schedule within 6-12 weeks for a discounted rate.

How many treatments are required for a perfect result?

It depends on the state of the clients’ skin and the desired degree of correction. The client is often satisfied after only one treatment, of course if, e.g. the wrinkles are not very deep, but due to the simplicity of the procedure and the affordable price the clients opt for two or even three treatments to achieve a perfect result. The procedure may be repeated after the skin is fully regenerated, so 6–8 weeks after the procedure. Generally 2 sessions are required

It will reduce fine lines and wrinkles, help enlarged pores and build collagen and elastin which help tighten skin. It is extremely effective in reducing hyper pigmentation including melasma and improving acne and acne scars.

Can it be done on the hands or chest?

The VI Peel is incredibly effective in removing sunspots from the hands, arms and chest and eliminating the wrinkles associated with sun damage on the décolletage. The peeling process is different and longer than for the face. Please ask your provider for more information.

Does the VI Peel help with precancerous cells?

The VI Peel is not designed to treat cancer but offers a comprehensive way to prevent it.

How many treatments are required to show an improved look?

A single VI Peel will achieve significant repair and add a healthy glow to the skin. Ideally, though, 3-4 peels a year are recommended.  Some conditions like acne scars, pore enlargement and hyper pigmentation might require multiple applications.

How much will I peel?

The skin peeling associated with the VI Peel is a light, fluffy peel that generally starts on day three and can last 3-5 days.

What about normal activities after the VI Peel?

There are no restrictions. We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel.

How many peels are needed?

The VI Peel may be repeated as often as every 4-6 weeks initially. Our recommendation for maintenance of average skin would be once every three months to prevent damage and aging of the skin.

Can I go in the sun after the VI Peel?

Sun exposure should be limited and Sunscreen should be used liberally.
